Kia ora, I'm Jesper.
Originally from Denmark, I spent thirteen years travelling and working around the world before making New Zealand home. What began as a one-year gap year became a life shaped by adventure, curiosity, and a deep appreciation for the natural world. Through whitewater kayaking and surfing, I experienced different cultures, built lifelong friendships, and shared both joy and challenge with people from many walks of life.
Those experiences sparked a lasting curiosity about how we grow, how our experiences shape us, and how change becomes possible. They also taught me that, despite our different backgrounds and stories, we all share a desire to feel understood, connected, and to live meaningful lives.
My own journey hasn't always been straightforward. I've faced times when there wasn't an obvious "right" decision, and when every path carried some uncertainty or emotional pain. During those times, counselling became an important part of my life. There were periods when I couldn't quite explain what was wrong—I simply knew something wasn't sitting right. Counselling helped me make sense of those feelings, reconnect with my values, and find the clarity and confidence to move forward.
Becoming a counsellor felt like a natural continuation of that journey. Today, I have the privilege of walking alongside people as they navigate life's challenges. I'm naturally curious about people and genuinely enjoy hearing their stories. I don't believe anyone can be reduced to a diagnosis or a single chapter of their life. Our experiences, relationships, strengths, and struggles all form part of a much bigger story.
Outside of counselling, you'll often find me on the river, in the ocean, or exploring the outdoors with family and friends. Nature is where I feel most grounded, and it continues to remind me to slow down, stay curious, and appreciate that growth often happens gradually.
I bring that same openness and curiosity into my counselling practice, creating a safe and collaborative space where you can explore your experiences, understand what matters to you, and find a direction that feels true to who you are.
